It often seems to us that the most important decisions in the world are made by adults. But some actions of children, and sometimes the very fact of their presence on this planet, radically change the lives of millions of people. We have collected for you the names of 7 boys and girls who had a serious influence on the history and culture of the 20th century.
Anna Frank - the girl who told the world about the HolocaustAnna (Annelis Maria Frank) was born in Frankfurt in a Jewish family. When the girl was 4 years old, she, along with her parents and older sister, fled from the Nazis to Amsterdam, but in 1940 the Netherlands was also occupied by German troops. In the summer of 1942, the Franks, fleeing from certain death, went underground together with another Jewish family - hiding in the secret rooms of the office that belonged to Anna's father Otto.
In the spring of 1944, Anna heard on the radio the appeal of the Minister of Education, who asked to keep any documents indicating the people's suffering during the years of occupation by the Nazis. Impressed by the official’s speech, Anna rewrote and edited her diary, which later became a book. The girl herself died of typhus, when at the end of the war she was with her family in a concentration camp.
