Thermostat VAZ-2110. What and how?
The VAZ-2110 thermostat is a small, but notless indispensable device in the car. Its correct operation determines the qualitative and rapid warming up of the engine, not allowing the coolant to cool down before reaching its nominal operating temperature.
Under the automobile thermostat is understooddevice that is used in liquid cooling systems. Its main function is to maintain the engine operating temperature. It is usually installed between the power unit and the radiator.
Principle of operation
When the engine starts, the VAZ-2110 thermostatis in the closed state, while the cooling liquid goes through the so-called small circle, that is, does not go to the radiator. Due to this, the engine warms up more quickly. But when the liquid reaches a temperature equal to 95 degrees Celsius, the thermostat on the VAZ-2110 opens, and the liquid begins to flow already along a large circle, coming along the nozzles to the radiator. From this moment, the process of cooling the antifreeze or antifreeze and, as a consequence, the engine of the car begins. This ensures that the power unit is protected against overheating.
If the thermostat stops working on VAZ-2110, then there are malfunctions associated with the cooling system. In this case, two options are possible:
- The valve is stuck in the open position. In this case, after starting the engine, the coolant begins to flow immediately through a large circle. Those. it immediately begins to flow to the radiator. This is expressed in a very long warm-up of the car and a prolonged achievement of the operating temperature by the power unit. Since the engine is cooled, the operation of the vehicle is not prohibited.
- The valve is stuck in the closed position. The engine of the car is warming up in the normal mode, but when the normal operating temperature is reached, the coolant does not start flowing to the radiator. Those. antifreeze or antifreeze continues to spin through a small circle. As a result, the temperature of the engine continues to grow steadily, which leads to overheating of the power unit. The car in this case is highly discouraged.
The easiest way to verify the deviceis to simply touch the pipes of the cooling system. To do this, the car must be warmed to operating temperature, then touch all the channels. If the hose to the radiator has remained cold, it means only one thing - the valve does not open, which means that the VAZ-2110 thermostat is defective.
Another method of diagnosis will require a littlemore effort from the artist, but it is more obvious. First remove the thermostat. To do this, loosen the hose clamps of the radiator hoses, the pump pipe and the connector with the outlet pipe. Nothing else holds the thermostat, so it can be safely removed.
The process of diagnosis also has no specialcomplexities. To test the device's performance, you will need a pan and boiling water. Initially, the valve should be in the closed position. In this state, it should be lowered into hot water, and the channel must open. It is visible to the naked eye. If the thermostat VAZ-2110 did not react to boiling water and the valve did not open, then it is defective.
