What does a nerve look like?
The nerve is a part of the entire nervous system that conducts impulses from the central nervous system in all directions and back. They may be:
- Vegetative, having a gray color
- Cerebrospinal - white
Gray color is formed due to the absence of myelin - a substance that makes up the meaty shell and acts as an insulator, white color is formed, just due to myelin.
Types of nerves
All nerves can be divided into three groups:
- Afferent. They include the processes of the nervous system (dendrites), which are very sensitive.
- Mixed. They include dendrites and axons (processes of the nerve cell), which transmit impulse to the central nervous system (CNS) from the receptor and vice versa.
- Efferent or motor. They contain axons and neurons, they conduct impulses from the central nervous system to the muscles and glands.
To understand what a nerve looks like, it is necessary to imagine the finest fibers collected in a bundle, along which nerve impulses are conducted. Nerves can have different thickness, some of them reach 14 mm.They pass through the entire human body and become thinner along the way, as if they are scattering branches to various organs. Nerves have a very large resistance coefficient, they are divided into spinal nerves and cranial nerves.
Nerves transmit a signal or impulse through the spinal cord while touching any part of the body. If the sensation of pain is observed, the signal comes back and, as it were, gives a command to the muscles to move away from what causes pain to a certain part of the body. The fact that a person sees, hears and has tastes, he is obliged to the nerves. The nerve endings of the sense organs react to cold and heat, to light and other factors. For example, the optic nerve reacts to such an irritant as light and in this case the signal enters the brain, due to which a person sees the reality surrounding him.
If we talk about how the dental nerve looks like, it can be noted that it is a bundle of fibers that contains neurons - nerve cells. When the disease of the dental nerve occurs, the pulp is damaged. The pulp of the tooth consists of loose connective tissue containing a mass of lymphatic and blood vessels, as well as nerves.
Now you know what the nerve of the tooth looks like and other nerve endings of the human body.Be healthy.
